The Evie Anderson Christmas Lights Event: A Dazzling Holiday Tradition

We were delighted to host another spectacular year of our beloved holiday lights competition, now renamed to honor an   extraordinary member of our community. The Evie Anderson Christmas Lights Event carries forward the joyful spirit of one of   Poetry's most dedicated volunteers, whose passion for this cherished Christmas celebration helped make it the treasured tradition it   is today.

The evening's festivities were masterfully guided by Pastor Michael Moonoo of Destiny Life Church, whose wonderful presence   as emcee helped create an atmosphere of warmth and celebration. The evening was filled with wonderful moments and special   appearances. We were honored to have Poetry's own Ryder   Grimes take time from his busy schedule to join our celebration. The   Pikett family filled the air with beautiful Christmas carols, while   talented students from Poetry High School shared their musical gifts   through both vocal performances and instrumental   arrangements.

Children were delighted by our festive petting zoo, which featured an array of gentle animals including goats, bunnies, a   pony, donkey, and even a charming Scottish Highlander calf named "Shirley Temple". Adding to the evening's magic, Poetry   Baptist Church Children's   Ministries presented a moving live nativity scene throughout the event.

Guests warmed up with cups of delicious homemade hot chocolate, crafted from a special recipe shared by Sheri Vinson,   which proved to be a highlight of the evening. The community's generous spirit was on full display through the abundance of   homemade cookies donated by our thoughtful townspeople, creating a wonderful spread of sweet treats for all to enjoy.

Though Jennifer Emard was unable to attend in person, we were pleased to have her daughters accept a special proclamation   on her behalf.  In her honor, May 4th in Poetry will now be known as Jennifer Emard Day!

In the true spirit of giving, our community came together to support those in need, with generous donations of laundry pods and   toilet paper for the Genesis Shelter. These contributions will make a meaningful difference in the lives of others this holiday season.

Congratulations to our Christmas Lights Contest Winners:
- First Place: Beverly Eckles (16755 CR 247)
- Second Place: Stacy Burton (10810 CR 2458)
- Third Place: Todd & Candace Middleton (10557 CR 2332)

This year's display of twinkling lights and festive decorations brought our community together to share in the magic of the   season, continuing a legacy that Evie helped build with her warmth and dedication.
